Gross.

Gross. I can't say that about minivans anymore. I think I own one.

Last night, I had a huge revelation about WHY I don't like minivans. Because I want to be YOUNG! and CAREFREE! and WITHOUT RESPONSIBILITY! An SUV doesn't necessarily say "old" or "has kids" because you could just have dogs and like to hike and stuff.. But a Minivan. That says I'm an old person. Or someone with kids. And responsibility.

I'm not ready to be an old person. With kids. I'm <-this-> much closer to my midlife crisis. You know, because that isn't one of those things that you just happen upon. You take baby steps towards it until one day something little happens, and you just break. I'm a few steps closer to that breaking point. I still have a few years, but whatever.

But at any rate, Here's what it looks like:

It has everything. If there is a bell and whistle, we have it. Except the sunroof. And we made a good deal on the trade-in. We did good. I think. AND, I have written confirmation from my husband that he is NOT allowed to complain or whine (he was the one that pushed for the deal) about any part of it. So. All in all, I think at least I got a good deal out of it!

I was also Anti-Mini Van. Now we are the proud owners of Virginia the Van...and I love her! I feel like such a great parent, even though I was a great parent while driving the Tahoe. Congrats on your purchase...You'll really love it!

Think of it as a wonderful motherhood badge!!

(said with a cringe because I too am a mini-van hateah)

WEll, if you are going to go mini-van - might as go all the way, I say! At least you have a FANCY mini van!

Congrats on your new purchase! And I don't blame you for getting the extras. We did it and have not regretted it AT ALL. It makes rides with the kids tolerable. :0) Have fun with it!

@Heidi - I guess, If I think of the minivan as just another stretch mark, (which I have tons of and also hate), then I have to love it. Sortof. Because I wouldn't have them without my kid. And I wouldn't trade him for the world.

At least it is a "cool" looking minivan! The picture on the beach is absolutely precious.

I am totally with you!! I have never wanted a mini van! But now me and my husband are adopting and may get a sibling group and we are like "Holy crap we are so going to need a minivan!" ha ha. But I will get over the uncoolness of the van to be able to have enough kids to fill it!

Have fun in the new car!!

I'm totally anti-minivan, but, not for the same reasons, I would give anything to have children and responsibilities that the minivan represent... I don't like minivans because they don't operate well in the snow (which in my end of canada is an issue) and they are just so suburban, I think.
Nevertheless, congrats on the new vehicle, I'm sure you can make it cool somehowl.

I'm here through NaComLeavMe! I know how you feel about the minivan. We went nerdyvan a bit more than 5 years ago. You can only act so cool riding around in huge metal behemoth with french fries and old, crusty chicken nuggets scattered about!

Hey there--im here from NCLM--and before I comment on the van, I have to say that the picture of your little one with the chocolate pudding all over his face--just made my night! Great picture!

Find some fun ways to pimp it out--get those spinners to put on the wheels=)

Yeah, it was a tough jump to make for us too. But we really love it...the room, the bucket seats for the boys so they cant.touch.each.other! The DVD player...so I can listen to MY radio stations. All the lovely room when we drive the 12 hours to visit grandma and grandpa.

Yup...I'm pretty much over the obnoxious "momness" of it and trying instead to embrace my inner soccermom.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the dark side! Bwahahaha! I don't have kids yet, but I have a physically challenged mum who drives a minivan. Which means that sometimes I drive a minivan. I used to hate soccer-mom-mobiles, but I gotta admit that I kinda like driving the gas guzzling behemoth.

I'm here from NaComLeavMo, and I'm currently rebelling against a minivan. We actually bought a smaller car when we adopted #2 earlier this year, but I'm trying to use the next few years to adjust to the idea that the minivan is in my future when #3 eventually comes home. *sigh*

I soooo didn't want a mini-van. But, I traded my 2 door civic in about 3 years ago and I love it. I do wish I had a newer one...my next one will be one with a dvd player and seats that have a space in the middle.

You will love it!

Congrats on the purchase! While it is a minivan, at least it's a souped up, bells and whistles full, minivan!

And, hey, maybe the cutest little Chocolate pudding boy, will really appreciate it and give you a little window of safety from his strong arm!

Thanks for your encouraging comment, Momma Mary!

And even this ardent hippy chic will forgive you the minivan. May it serve you well!

I have always said I will never get a minivan, lets see if I can stick to my word!

I am the opposite and I have always wanted a mini van. We had one when I was growing up and my mom has always said that it was her favorite car.

At least it is a pretty minivan? (Here via NaComLeavMo).

I never say no when it comes to car types. You just know that the hated car is what you'll wind up with. Like a horrible 70s Chevy Impala. Not like I've got experience with it or anything.

I am an SUV gal myself but I do have to say that is a good lookin' minivan. If I had to go there, that'd be the one I'd go for. Classy, not obnoxious.

Enjoy your new wheels! I used to hate the thought of a mini van too, and swore I'd never have one. Now though, I would LOVE to have one, because it would mean that I have kids.

Well, all I can say is you better remember to turn your headlights on when cruising "O" st in the minivan.... :)

Oh, and another question, is it just me, or are the word verifications getting longer with the more comments I leave?
